Abstract

1,080,382. Washing bottles. PROT S.r.I. March 17, 1965, No. 11323/65. Heading B8T. Bottles are carried in holders 25 on an endless chain conveyer 24 around a triangular path in step-by-step fashion and are subjected to washing and internal and external rinsing; the apex of the path disposed below a horizontal run is disposed in a detergent tank at the base of the machine casing having walls parallel to the conveyer. The bottles are fed into the machine by a cam actuated pusher 38 and are carried past jets 72 which emit lukewarm water and then past jets 74 emitting warmer water whereby labels are removed. The bottles are inverted at a chain sprocket 20 and are subjected during their horizontal run to warm water from nozzles 76 and 78 which clean the insides and outsides respectively. Finally they are rinsed by nozzles 80, 82 and a fan is directed towards the bottle mouths to remove any foreign matter. Rinsing is effected first with warm and then with cold water. On leaving the chain sprocket 22 the bottles are ejected by sliding down a shoot from which they are pushed by an hydraulic drive to a loading platform. The washing water from nozzles 72, 74, 76 and 78 is collected in the bottom of the machine casing from which it is drained and recirculated; a partition 84 directs water from the nozzles 76, 78 to the bottles as they reach the sprocket 20.
