Abstract

107,948. Smith, A. H. April 14, 1917. Turning.-A bar-stock feed for a capstan lathe &c. comprises fingers 6 pivoted at 7 and provided with adjustable pointed screwed or plain pins 12 clamped at 14. The fingers are carried by a sleeve 3 sliding on the spindle 2 and caused to rotate with it by the fingers that engage in the slots 20 and act as splines. The pins are moved to grip the stock by the coned end 10 of an actuator slidable on the sleeve as controlled by hand or automatically and a spring not shown tends to maintain the pins in contact with the stock. An adjustable ring 11 provides an abutment to secure the return of the feed sleeve. The chucking-mechanism is as described in Specification 15744/08.
