Abstract

1,076,842. Wet spinning. JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd. Aug. 7, 1964 [May 8, 1963], No. 18218/63. Heading D1D. A ring spinning frame for the wet spinning of green or retted flax or similar fibres, e.g. ramie comprises a water trough 9 for wetting the roving mounted so that a lip 16 over which the roving 1 passes is approximately level with and adjacent to the nip of the back rollers 6, 7 of the drafting head. In the case of fragile, e.g. bleached, rovings rollers 3, 5 are provided and driven at approximately the same speed as rollers 6, 7 to draw the rovings from bobbins 2 to prevent tension being applied to the wetted rovings. Guide plates 4, 13 are provided and a bar or roller 12 causes the rovings to pass below the surface of the liquid. A lower, supporting apron 14 is provided in the drafting zone.
