Abstract

1,076,627. Moulds. ALTAMIL CORPORATION. Dec. 14, 1964 [Dec. 18, 1963], No. 50789/64. Heading B3F. A method of making cored moulds for such articles as pipe and plumbing fittings, e.g. tees, bends, elbows &c. comprises forming a pair of mould halves 11, 12 mating along a parting surface and defining at least one mould cavity therebetween, the mould cavity being orientated so that a plane containing any two intersecting axes of the article is perpendicular to the parting line of the mould and the mould cavity having at least two complete core prints 14 and 15 and wherein at least one complete core print and at least part of another core print 15a, 15b is contained within one of the mould halves. Cores 32 for the mould are formed in a core box with the cores oriented in the manner described and whilst retained in one half of the core box may be positioned in a mould half and subsequently ejected from the core box into the mould by known means. This orientation of the mould cavities and cores permits all the castings to be gated from a single runner.
