[Also in Division B5] A laminated golf club shaft comprises a layer of fabric and a layer of sheet metal bonded together and wound on a mandreL The shaft is preferably formed by superimposing a sheet of steel between .001 and .004 inches thick on a wider sheet of glass fabric which has been impregnated with epoxy or phenolic resin, winding the sheets on a mandrel, curing the resin, and finally withdrawing the mandrel and polishing the shaft. Thin sheets of brass or aluminium are mentioned as alternatives to steel.
