Abstract

1,075,674. Laminates. SOUTHALLS (BIRMINGHAM) Ltd. Oct. 15, 1964 [Oct. 15, 1963], No. 40569/63. Heading B5N. A laminate comprises a layer of cellular polystyrene backed by a layer of waxed paper secured thereto by pressure, such as by passing the two layers through the nip of rollers which may be heated. One or more fibrous layers, such as cellulose wadding may be laminated to the other side of the waxed paper also by pressure simultaneously with the application of the polystyrene sheet. During the process the polystyrene sheet may be embossed, decorated, as by printing, or trimmed, e.g. by using pressing rollers provided with embossing or inked surfaces and knife edges.
