Abstract

1,074,933. Burners. DOWTY FUEL SYSTEMS Ltd. April 2, 1965 [April 15, 1964], No. 15645/64. Heading F4T. A burner comprises a liquid fuel spill-type atomizer (9) and three annular air passages (8, 18, 23) arranged concentrically around the atomizer and terminating in the transverse plane through the atomizer. The primary air passage (8) is fed separately by a pipe (24) and the secondary and tertiary passages (18, 23) are fed by a pipe (25) containing a throttle valve (26). The air flows to the secondary and tertiary passages (18, 23) and may be separately controlled. Part of the air discharged through the tertiary passage (23) is directed inwardly toward the fuel nozzle by an anglesectioned plate (19). The tertiary air is swirled by blades (16). Means, not described, are provided for simultaneous control of the fuel and the air valve (26).
