Abstract

1,074,572. Waveguide directional couplers. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 5, 1963 [Dec. 12, 1962], No. 46867/62. Addition to 986,494. Heading H1W. The coupling device of Specification 986,494, comprising a side-wall total directional coupler having hermetically sealed coupling apertures, is modified in that several partial couplers spaced in the direction of propagation replace the single coupler. It is stated that total coupling may be obtained by using three spaced approximately 6 db. couplers or by four spaced couplers consisting of an inner pair of 7 db. couplers and an outer pair of 10 db. couplers. In all cases the couplers consist of a number of spaced apertures sealed by, e.g. glass, ceramic, sapphire or mica.
