Abstract

1,074,461. Freeze drying blood, sera, &c. THERMOVAC INDUSTRIES CORPORATION. Jan. 6, 1965 [Jan. 16, 1964], No. 521/65. Heading A2D. [Also in Divisions B8 and F4] A freeze drying apparatus for blood, sera and the like, comprises a refrigeration chamber 14 encircled by cooling coils 16 seated on a housing 18 and a vacuum chamber 20 disposed upon and integral with the chamber 14. The chamber houses a tray 24 receiving flasks 42 for the material to be dried in a fixed vertical position and a sealing device 10 having a push plate 82 for securing rubber stoppers in the flasks when the drying process is completed. A vapour deflector 26 is seated on the inlet line 28 of a vacuum pump in the chamber.
