Abstract

1,074,371. Rotary pumps. O. ECKERLE. Sept. 4, 1964, No. 36356/64. Heading F1F. In a rotary pump of the internally-meshing gear type, formation of air pockets in a chamber 14 containing a filter 12 is prevented by situating the inlet end 21 of a suction passage 20 in the uppermost region of the chamber, said passage being defined by a plate 19 attached to a cover plate 5 for the pumping gears 2, 3 and having its lowermost end connected to the low-pressure side of the gears by a passage 24 in the plate 5. The chamber 14 is formed by a screw-cap 13, which may be made of transparent material, and receives liquid e. g. fuel oil, through a bore (18), Fig. 4 (not shown), and either one of two inlet passages (22, 23), Fig. 2 (not shown), in a casing 10. The internally-toothed gear is pressed against the plate 5 by the pressure of liquid in a chamber 30 that is connected to a chamber 26 containing a pressure-control valve 27, the liquid leaving the high-pressure side of the gears being directed through a passage 25 and the chamber 26 to an outlet (28) at one end thereof. Surplus liquid in the chamber 26 escapes through either a passage (31) and a bore (32) connected to a reservoir (not shown in the drawings) or a bore (33) communicating with the chamber 14, the latter bore being otherwise closed by a stopper (34). The bore (33) is employed when the reservoir is situated at a level higher than that of the pump. The chamber 30 may be connected to an air-control valve (not shown in the drawings) through a connector 38, said valve being associated with an air blower for fuel combustion purposes.
