1,073,677. Tube-chamfering. HUSBAND'S SHIPYARDS Ltd. June 7, 1966, No. 25213/66. Headings B3B, B3C, B3K and B3T. Means for chamfering or bevelling a tube A comprises an axially-extending support 2, a motor-driven chamfering machine C having a rotary cutting head B, the machine being carried by the support so that it is free to slide axially therealong, and manually-operated screw-feed means 20, 26 to force the machine and its motor along the support to chamfer the tube. In operation, a collet 4a, 4b, 4c, Fig. 4 (not shown), on the support 2 is expanded in the tube end by rotation of a handle 10 on a central shaft 1. The cutting-head 17, Fig. 7 (not shown), having twin cutters 16A, 16B, is secured by screws 15 to a plate 14 on the shaft 13 of the pneumatic drilling machine C. The head is lined with a bronze bush to bear on the part 2. The feed-screw 20 carrying the hand-wheel 26 passes through the machine and screws into the shaft 1. Rotation of the hand wheel thus moves the cutters against the tube-end A.
