[Also in Division B5] A method of securing a pocket to a garment such as an overall made wholly or partially of thermoplastic material comprises the steps of locating a former (not shown) over a pocket blank 14, lapping the edges of the blank over the upper surface of the former on all but one side, laying the garment over the former and the lapped edge and applying heat from the inside of the garment to produce a weld 23 which is concealed from the outside by the pocket. Heat for welding may be produced by high frequency radio waves and the ends 13A of the weld may be reinforced by stitching.
