Abstract

1,072,282. Furniture frames. BAUSTAHLGEWEBE G.m.b.H. March 30, 1965 [March 31, 1964], No. 13398/65. Heading A4H. [Also in Divisions A6 and E1] A structural unit, for use in shelving, coat stands, toys, buildings, walls, balusters, lamp standards, fences, partitions, reinforced concrete or other skeleton structures, comprises four equal length, parallel rods 1 disposed with their adjacent ends at the corner of a square and interconnected at their ends, e.g. by welding, by plates 2, each plate 2 having a bore 3 extending axially of the unit to receive a screw for securing further units. The rods 1 may be of steel, wood or plastics material and the bore 3 is preferably threaded. A plurality of units may be interconnected at their ends by means of a connecting cube (Fig. 7 not shown) having threaded bores in each of its faces. Intermediate plates or cubes are provided to stiffen the unit between its ends and one such cube may have recessed corners (Fig. 3 not shown) to slidably fit within the rods 1 and to be clamped therein when further lateral units are secured thereto.
