Abstract

1,070,976. Counting-apparatus. SERVICE D'EXPLOITATION INDUSTRIELLE DES TABACS ET DES ALLUMETTES. Nov. 22, 1963 [Nov. 23, 1962], No. 46184/63. Heading G4D. Apparatus for counting and indicating objects produced by the cutting of a continuous rod, e.g. cigarettes comprises a reflecting detector 3 having a projector 9 and a photodiode 12 arranged so that their axes converge on the path followed by the cigarettes, the plane containing the axes of the projector and photodiode being at right-angles to said path. As shown, the detector 3 is mounted in a casing 8. The inclination of the projector 9 may be varied by slot 10 and screw 11. The cigarettes reflect rays from projector 9 to the photodiode 12, the variations in voltage of which are applied to the input of a counting circuit. The circuit includes an electronic decimal counter (15) Fig. 3 (not shown), which records the pulses received and which at each electronic decade energizes an electromechanical counter (16). Indicating marker (6), Fig. 4 (not shown), comprises an electromagnet with a coil (26) and a core (27). The core bears on the marker (30), e.g. a pencil through a spring (32). The pulse which actuates the coil (26) is produced by a capacitor (43), (Fig. 1, not shown), discharge by the closure of a first switch comprising a relay (40) which is controlled by the opening of a second switch (39), said second switch (39) being actuated by a drum (37) coupled to a totalizer (7).
