Abstract

1,066,551. Mine car pushers. SHAW, TREW & SMITH Ltd., and D. C. SHAW. Jan. 10, 1964 [Oct. 11, 1962], No. 38497/62. Addition to 997,701. Heading B7L. A mine car pusher comprises a trolley 1 having rollers 16 running in channel-section rails 3 and rigidly supporting a member 4 for engaging the axle or dummy axle 20 of a mine car; the trolley comprises two spaced plates 6 between which dogs 5 are yieldably mounted by pin-and-slot connections 7, 9, the dogs 5 being biased by springs 10 into engagement with a creeper chain 2, whereby the trolley is moved. Should a mine car pushed by the trolley be stopped or retarded then the dogs move vertically against springs 10 as the chain continues moving. The springs bear against a plate 11 connected to cross-pieces 15 by bolts 14 which can be adjusted to vary the spring pressure to suit particular requirements.
