Abstract
1,075,509. Road-rail vehicles. KALAMAZOO MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 12, 1966, No. 1413/66. Heading B7D. In a vehicle with both flanged and resiliently tyred wheels arranged to engage a railway track the axles carrying the flanged wheels 14 are each mounted on a pair of vertical posts 16 slidable in slideways 18 by manually controlled means such as hydraulic rams 25 between a raised position and a lowered position in which they are engaged by feet 32 of pivoted thrust members 35. The thrust members are pivotable by manually operated cables 38 against the urge of springs 40 from the post engaging position. Desirably the non-driven flanged wheels support 25% of the vehicle weight.
