Abstract

1,066,525. Curtain walling. R. PHILIPPART. April 27, 1964 [April 27, 1963], No. 17342/64. Heading E1R. Curtain walling constructions are assembled in the following steps (a) starting with a column A (b) rigidly connecting cross-pieces B ranged in tiers proportionately to the vertical division of the construction in question, to at least one lateral face of the upright A, (c) temporarily supporting the free end of each crosspieces (d) sliding panels e or frames D between successive overhanging cross-pieces B, and (e) repeating the operation by installing an upright or column A to support the ends of the temporarily supported crosspieces B, and supporting the cross pieces therefrom, and continuing thus across the building structure. The columns or uprights A are as described and claimed in Specification 1,066,526. The column A is made from a plurality of coaxial hollow sections insulated from each other by interposed thermal or accoustic seal and each section is supported from a concrete or other wall or floor E, Fig. 17 not shown, such that each section is suspended relatively to the section below it and has flexibility in adjusting the correct position of the sections both vertically and from front to rear. The panels C or frames D are slid into grooves made correspondingly in the column section A and cross pieces B and are held in place by blocks having a crenellated section for fixing in the grooves of the sections A and crosspieces B, or the frames may have H-cross-sections so that panels are held between the projections on one side of the H and the projections on the other side fit into grooves on the sections A and crosspieces B. The cross pieces B. are of tubular form and telescope frictionally on to mounting pieces of corresponding cross section which are secured to the sections A of the column by nuts and bolts.
