Abstract
1,065,758. Slewing bearings. HAGGLUND & SONER A.B. Aug. 26, 1965, No. 36619/65. Heading B8B. [Also in Divisions F2 and E1] In a ball or roller thrust bearing for a crane or excavator, for example, relative rotation of the races is effected by hydraulic means, comprising pistons and cylinders, the pistons being connected by linkage to the rotatable race. In an embodiment, an inner race (4), Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), is rotatably supported on an outer race (3) by balls (29) ; three cylinders (1, 1<SP>1</SP> and 1<SP>11</SP>) are pivotally connected to a member (25) by means of pintles (15), and pistons (18), Fig. 4 (not shown), of the cylinders (1, 1<SP>1</SP> and 1<SP>11</SP>), are each connected, by members (16 and 17), Fig. 3 (not shown), to an extension (14) of the member (25). The extension (14) is attached to the non-rotatable race (3) and also serves as a bearing cover. The pistons (18) are each provided with a followerroller (20), Fig. 4 (not shown), which engages a cam (5) attached to the rotatable race (4) and locates the pistons so that at least one is in an actuating position. Each cylinder (1, 1<SP>1</SP> and 1<SP>11</SP>) is provided with a valve (2) having a stem (13), the latter having a follower-roller in engagement with a cam (12) secured to the rotatable race (4). When pressurized fluid is supplied by a pipe (6) to an opening (27) in the valve (2), the race (4) is rotated in a clockwise direction by at least one piston and cylinder, an opening (26) in the valve allowing escape of fluid through a pipe (7) when the piston (18) is retracted. Similarly, when the race (4) is rotated in an anti-clockwise direction pressurized fluid is supplied through the pipe (7) and the valve opening (26) and escapes through the valveopening (27) and the pipe (6).
