Abstract

An organosiloxane-oxyalkylene block copolymer comprises (a) at least one siloxane block containing at least two siloxane units of formula <FORM:1064421/C3/1> wherein R contains 1-20 carbon atoms and is a monovalent hydrocarbon group, a halogensubstituted monovalent hydrocarbon group or a divalent hydrocarbon group and b has a value of 1 to 3 inclusive, said siloxane block containing at least one of said siloxane units wherein at least one R group is a divalent hydrocarbon group, and (b) at least one oxyalkylene block containing at least two oxyalkylene groups of formula -R1O-, wherein R1 is an alkylene group containing 2-10 carbon atoms, said siloxane and oxyalkylene blocks being interconnected by said divalent hydrocarbon groups. The block copolymers are added to coagulation baths for wet-spinning synthetic fibres (see Division B5). In an example, a coagulation bath consists of water, acetonitrile, and a block copolymer having the formula <PICT:1064421/C3/1> Many other organosiloxane-oxyalkylene block copolymers are described.
