Abstract

In a process of aluminizing metals such as Ni base alloys - "NIMONICS" (Registered Trade Mark), 12% Cr steels, and 18% Cu 8% Ni austenitic stainless steels the metals are packed in a powder mixture consisting of:- .0.05 - 5% Al .0.05 - 5% NaF or KF .0.05 - 5% KHF2 .0.05 - 5% NH4Cl Balance Al2 O3 and impurities, and heated in an inert gas such as argon. The metals are packed in the mixture in a crucible which is inserted in a furnace and heated to 860 DEG -880 DEG C. for "NIMONICS", above 900 DEG C. for the steels.
