Abstract

1,062,716. Controlling industrial trucks. EATON YALE & TOWNE Inc. Aug. 11, 1964 [Aug. 14, 1963], No. 32612/64. Heading B7H. [Also in Division B8] An industrial truck with at least two independently operable power mechanisms has a control arm 29 with a handle 25 by which the arm is movable in a fore-and-aft direction to operate control means for one power mechanism and a knob 31 mounted on handle 25 and rotatable about the handle axis to operate further control means for actuating a second power mechanism. Movement in a fore-and-aft direction of the handle 25 controls the lifting mechanism of the lift forks of the truck while rotation of knob 31 controls the drive motor (16) (Fig. 1, not shown) through controller 46 secured to the base of the control arm. Having released spring-loaded pin 60 from hole 64 in bracket 36 through centrally-pivoted lever 65 and shaft 33 by depressing button 34, arm 29 may be moved from the neutral position of the lifting mechanism thus rotating shaft 35 which carries a lever 44 pivoted to rod 45 for controlling the lifting mechanism. Knob 31 is connected to shaft 48 of the controller 46 through an arm 51 mounted on sleeve 32, link 54 and an arm on shaft 48. The brackets 38, 39 supporting the control arm 29 are mounted on a battery cover plate 20 which is pivotable on hinge (21) (Fig. 1) for access to the drive batteries.
