[Also in Division Fl] At least two intermeshing gears 18, 19 of a power transmitting gear train having driving and driven shafts 17, 27 are closely housed in a casing 12, 35 to form a gear pump. Annular chambers 42, 43 between the casing 35 and thrust plates 40, 41 are pressurized partly at pump delivery pressure and partly at pump suction pressure to urge the thrust plates 40, 41 in a tilt-free manner against the sides of the gears 18, 19 to seal the working chamber of the pump. A suction pipe 48 connects the pump inlet to a sump portion of a main gear casing it of which the member 12 forms a closure plate. Further gears 23, 26 of the train are splash-lubricated from the sump. The train may be used in a power take-off drive of an earth mover or agricultural tractor, the pressure fluid from the pump being used to power a control system for the earth-moving implement, or auxiliary services of the tractor. More than one pump, supplying different services, may be included in one gear train.
