Abstract

1,060,020. Pipe couplings. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. Oct. 4, 1965 [Oct. 5, 1964], No. 42025/65. Heading F2G. [Also in Division E1] A wellhead connector comprises a housing 35, latches 53 on the housing and urged by springs 54 into engagement with a well member 51 and an expansible seal 71 carried by the housing and adapted to grip the member 51. The latches may be retracted by hydraulic pressure, and held in the retracted position by locking dogs 57. The fluid to expand the seal and retract the latches is supplied by a line 74. The housing is carried by a marine conductor 32 and the member 51 is connected to a flexible joint 30 or other part of a drilling wellhead mounted on a submerged casing head. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 977,641.
