A liquid fuel burner comprises a tubular body (12), Fig. 1 (not shown), having a discharge orifice (15) controlled by the conical end of a rod (17) extending through the tubular body and provided with grooves (42) at its conical end. The bore of the tubular body may also be provided with grooves. The rod is threaded into an end of the tubular body and is sealed by an 0-ring (27) and by a gland (29) secured by a gland nut (28). Liquid fuel and pressure air are delivered to the tubular body by a tube (32) having two passages and secured by a gland nut (35) to a tube (34) fixed to an opening in a fuel tank (11). One of the passages in the tube (32) is extended into the fuel in the tank by means of a fuel tube (41).
