Abstract

Double sided Turkish towelling is produced on a towelling knitting machine in which loop holders are positioned in front of a hooked needle guide bar and towelling thread guides associated with loop holders which are lowerable in order to bring their warp threads across and beneath the hooked needles. Additional yarn guides are used for the towellling yarns. The heads of the hooked needles in their rearward position protrude from the guide bar the yarn guides in this position of the hooked needles being so insertable between the needle heads that their warp threads slip off the hooked needle heads while the latter act as strippers of the threads arriving at the yarn guides from the creels. The yarn guides are diagonally inclined upwardly towards the rear of the machine.
