Abstract
Compounds of the general formula <FORM:1057471/C2/1> (wherein R represents a lower alkanoyl or benzoyl group or a hydrogen atom, the lower alkanoyl and lower alkyl groups each contain 1-7 carbon atoms and the broken lines denote optional substituents) and their acid addition salts are prepared by subjecting a compound of the formula <FORM:1057471/C2/2> to rearrangement-cum-acylation by treatment with a C1-7 alkanoic acid or benzoic acid or a functional derivative thereof, optionally followed by hydrolysis and/or salt formation. The compounds of the invention are anti-convulsants and may be administered enterally or parenterally in the form of pharmaceutical preparations (e.g. tablets, drag<\>aees, suppositories, capsules, solutions, emulsions and suspensions) containing them, with or without other (unspecified) active ingredients, together with a carrier.
