Abstract

1,057,146. Endless conveyers. MARSHALL CONVEYORS Ltd. Dec. 21, 1964 [Sept. 19, 1963], No. 36933/63. Heading B8A. An elevator system for distributing correspondence from floor to floor of a building comprises one or more containers 38, each supported in a carrier which is attached to a pair of endless chains 26. A lift shaft has walls 36 in which are loading apertures 37 and discharge openings fitted with shoots 39, 40. The chains 26 are driven through a friction clutch 35 which permits a container to be arrested by hand as it is moving past a loading aperture. Container 38 and carrier 48, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown).-The bottom 49 of the container is pivoted to the carrier at 50, the container normally being retained upright against the action of a spring 65 by a latch 63 which engages a pin 58 secured to the container. The carrier is provided with a row of push-buttons 69 to set the container for release of its contents at a selected discharge station, Fig. 8. Knocker portions 73 of the buttons 69 are intended to engage banana-shaped levers 81, Fig. 9 (not shown), arranged in different positions at various discharge stations. The inclination of the container during discharge is controlled by a roller 59 on the container engaging a fixed guide 86. A lid 52, normally held closed by a spring 54, is opened by engagement with a fixed stop 87.
