Abstract

1,056,585. Pipe joints; pipe stoppers. INGENIORSFIRMA G. KARLBOM A.B. Sept. 24, 1965, No. 40768/65. Headings F2G and F2P. Packing means for conduits comprises a resilient sleeve 4 which is clamped at one end 6 to a tube 1 by means of rings 10 and 12 and at the other end 5 to a gland 3 by means of a ring 7, the gland being axially displaceable within said tube and being provided with sealing means 22 at its end for engagement with a closure plate, throttle plate or similar member. The latter is positioned between said gland and a tube 19. said tube having a flange 18 bolted to a flange 16 on the tube 1. A flange 15 on the gland has a plurality of bolts 17 threaded therein which are provided with collars 17<SP>1</SP> in abutment with the flange 16 and ends in abutment with the flange 18. Adjustment of the bolts axially displaces gland 3 within the tube 1 and away from tube 19, thereby permitting replacement of the ring member 25 of a spectacle plate by the closure member 23 integral therewith. Subsequent readjustment of the bolts clamps the closure member between the sealing means 22 of the gland and tube 19. Fluid pressure within the tube 1 is transmitted to its inner wall by the sleeve.
