Abstract
1,056,108. Dividing engines. J. HEIDENHAIN, [trading as WENCZLER & HEIDENHAIN]. Sept. 5, 1963 [Sept. 5, 1962], No.35208/63. Heading G1X. Relates to a precision instrument e. g. a dividing engine or measuring machine, comprising a table 2 (Fig.1) to which is secured a workpiece 1 e.g. a measuring scale, supported for movement on a carrier path 7 (Figs. 1, 2) by means of two spring-loaded levers 3, 4 pivotally connected to the table and having rollers 5, 6. The carrier path 7 rests on tubular supports 11 which extend through openings in a carrier member 13 without touching it and are attached to a support member 14 resting on a three point support on a base 16. The exact level of the table 2 is determined by guide paths 17, 18 underneath two rails 19, 20, on the carrier 13, and spring-loaded levers 22 pivotally connected to the table carry rollers 23 which engage the upper surfaces 24, 25 of the rails and thus urge the table toward the guide paths. In this way no bending force is exerted on the guide paths due to the table weight or due to deformation of the support member 14. A bridge 28 is carried and guided similarly to table 2 and may carry e.g. a photo-electric measuring microscope 29 for reading the scale 1 or a ruling mechanism for drawing lines. The weight of the bridge may act through hydraulic supports 34 on carrier paths 32, 33 and the bridge is guided by rails 30, 31.
