Abstract

1,056,047. Ropeway cranes. J. KOLLER. Aug. 19, 1963 [Sept. 8. 1962], No. 32632/63. Heading B8B. The crab 1, Fig. 1, of a ropeway crane has a clamp for holding it stationary on the rope which is interlocked with a locking device which holds a lifting hook 24 in the raised position. As the crab travels along the rope 3 a shaft 6, driven by wheels 2 through a belt 5, operates a pump 7 which pumps oil from a tank 11 through a valve 10 into a reservoir 8. This continues until a sleeve 9, which moves against a spring; moves the inner stem of the valve 10 to the right, thereby causing the oil to be pumped to the tank 11. As it moves, the sleeve 9 turns a lever 14 about a shaft 30 by a cable 15 until a gear 17 engages a gear on the shaft 6. This turns a gear 16. a shaft 30 and a jaw 29. Fig. 6, clockwise so that a toothed sleeve 28 supporting a hammer 18 is not moved. If the crab is arrested and reversed for a short distance the jaw 29 rotates in the opposite direction and turns the sleeve 28 and hammer 18 so that the latter is lifted and drops on the opposite side of the shaft 30 in Fig. 1. In so doing it strikes a bracket 19 and causes it to depress a valve stem 22. This allows oil under pressure from the reservoir 8 to pass to hydraulic cylinders which clamp the crab to the rope 3 and release the load hook 24. A cylinder 49, Fig. 4, withdraws pins 43, 44 and a burden 37, Fig. 3, on the hook 24 descends. As it does so it pushes a lever 55 which withdraws pegs 47, 48, Fig. 4; through levers 51, 54, Fig. 3, from the pins 43. 44. A cylinder 79, Fig. 8, clamps jaws 76, 77 on to the rope 3. In a further embodiment a cylinder 87 clamps jaws 80, 81 on to the rope and a cylinder 89 locks them by means of a rack 86. The jaws comprise spring-loaded sliding wedges. Fig. 11. The hook 24 may now be lowered, loaded and raised. This causes the burden 37, Fig. 3, to push out the lever 55 so that a link 42 pulls a nose of a sliding body 40 through a slit in a tube 23. Thus the burden raises the body 40 and compresses a spring 58. The body 40 actuates a cable 27 which rotates a ring 21, Fig. 1, of the valve 20 to allow the hammer 18 to drop and the valve stem 22 to move up to its original position. The cylinders operating the crab clamp and hook release are relieved and the associated parts return to their starting positions. A spring 61, Fig. 3,moves a lever 38 so that the body 40 can drop down, thereby rotating the ring 21 back to its original position. When the load is retracted a spring 65 is wound by a disc 63 and guide pulley 13, a pawl 66 preventing overwinding: The force of this spring assists the burden 37 in ensuring descent of the hook 24.
