Abstract

1,055,621. Centrifugal pumps. SPEEDWELL RESEARCH Ltd. April 24, 1964 [Jan. 29, 1963], No. 3649/63. Heading F1C. A centrifugal pump for corrosive liquids comprises an integral casing which may be cast, moulded or fabricated by welding together a number of parts as shown or two sheet metal pressings at their circumference, the latter construction forming a casing with radially outwardly converging side walls. A divergent outlet is welded to the part 20 of the casing. The impeller vanes are assembled directly on the shaft 10 through the central inlet opening of the casing. Four vanes may be formed by two V-shaped members 12 located in radial slots in the shaft and secured axially by a locking screw 14. Alternatively, each vane may be separate and secured in a radial slot by the engagement of a notch in the vane with a flange on a locking screw or nut or on an intermediate washer. The pump parts in contact with corrosive liquid are of corrosiveresistant material such as titanium, stainless steel, glass or plastics. A rotating seal 40 is provided.
