Abstract

In a yielding mine roof support overlapping channels 10, 11 are frictionally clamped together by hook bolts 12 engaging two flanged stirrups 13, the stirrups having respective locating lugs 14, 15 shaped to abut the adjacent end of the respective channels 10, 11. The lug 15 abutting the end of channel 11 may be rectangular, as shown, or may be curved; the lug 14, Fig. 3 (not shown) abutting the end of channel 10 is curved to clear the flange of channel 11. The lugs 14, 15 may be integral with the stirrups, or welded on, or may be held on by the hook bolts.
