Abstract

105,253. Morgan, W., and Mills, W. March 31, 1916. Vanorizers, external. -Exhaust or other inert gas is admitted at substantially atmospheric pressure to a vaporizer to serve as a carrying-medium for the fuel. The vaporizer a is surrounded by an exhaust jacket h, and is provided with an inlet c for fuel or rich mixture, and an outlet b to the engine. A portion of the exhaust gases in the jacket h passes to a casing f, whence it enters the vaporizer through a perforated casing e, filter g, and aperture d. Perforations in the casing f maintain the gas therein at atmospheric pressure. In a modification, the exhaust or other inert gas is admitted to the vaporizer, from a chamber in which it is circulated at substantially atmospheric pressure, through a conduit in which a constriction is provided, a fuel nozzle being placed at the constriction.
