Abstract

1,049,904. Suspended tents. FRANKENSTEIN GROUP Ltd. May 25, 1965 [May 26, 1964]; No. 21621/64. Heading E1A. A tent roof comprises radially outward directed ridge sections supported on wire cables 23 which are in turn carried by posts 20 and which are all, connected to a plate 24 at the centre of the tent. The cables 23 are shackled at their outer ends to cables 28 which pass over either a single pulley or a set. of grooved rollers at the top of the post, and are anchored to the ground.. The roof is formed in three sections laced together at their edges, with edge flaps connected together by touch-fastener strips or slide-fasteners. The posts 20 are each constructed from two truncated metal cones with a central bolted flange connection (Fig. 5, not shown). The tent side walls 36 are laced to, the underside of the roof, and, can be pulled over wires 31 connecting the heads, of the post 20 by means of cords 45 (Fig. 6, not shown), each being fixed to the top ring of sets of vertically. aligned rings 44. attached at intervals along the length of each side wall 36, and passing down through the rings and up over the wire 31. The roof edges are tensioned by cables 33 and 34 passing through sleeves on said edges and anchored at each end and the side, 36, and end walls 38 are fixed at their lower edges by tension webbings 40 (Fig. 7, not shown) passing through sleeves 39 and attached to ground anchors 41.
