A tube drawing machine comprises a drawing block mounted for rotation about a vertical axis and supported at the lower end only, a pulling- in dog at the lower end of the block, and a power-operated stripper designed to remove a coil of drawn tubing upwards over the end of the block. The drawing block 1 is driven by a motor 3 through a gear-box 2. A swift 4 is mounted on a carriage 5 which can be moved along rails 6 by a fluid cylinder 8, and the carriage is mounted on a sub-frame 9 which supports a die-box 10 and is moved vertically along a pillar 7 by a fluid cylinder 13. Operation.-With the sub-frame 9 in the lowest position and the swift in the furthest position from the pillar 7 a coil of tubing 17 is placed on the swift and the end is aligned with the diebox 10. The carriage 5 is moved along the rails 6 so that the end passes through the die-box 10 and into the jaws of a dog 14 of the kind described in Specification 894,541. Adjustable stops 23 determine the position of the carriage 5 so that the axis lies in a vertical plane passing through the centre-point between the dies as described and claimed in Specification 1,035,482. The block 1 is rotated by the motor 3 and at the same time the sub-frame 9 rises to lay the drawn tubing helically on the block. When all the tubing is on the drawing block it is stripped off by two fluid-operated rams 15.
