Abstract

1,047,122. Pressure-resisting doors; Junction pieces. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. Aug. 6, 1965 [Aug. 6, 1964], No. 31928/64. Headings F2G and F2P. A safety pressure-disconnect device for use as a closure member or a coupling for a pipe on a pressure vessel having a port surrounded by an annular collar 1 provided with a groove 2, recesses 4 and slots 5, comprises a boss 20 retained by screw-thread engagement within a cap 10, provided with pins 12, and carrying a disc 22 retaining by a ring 23 a resilient sealing disc or ring 24. The disc 22 carries a lug 25 which is held in line with one of the pins 12 by a stop and a spring clip. The pins are passed through the slots 5 and, by rotation of the cap, into the groove 2, the lug 25 preventing relative rotation between the collar 1 and the boss 20 but rotation of the cap forces the ring 24 against the collar. Slight rotation of the cap to cause the pins to enter the recesses 4 allows the member 24 to be lifted and gas to escape from between the member and collar, and removal of the cap.
