Abstract

1,046,894. Collapsible trays. ASHTON CONTAINERS Ltd. June 3, 1965 [July 4, 1964], No. 27688/64. Heading B8P. Corresponding opposite panels 6, 7 and 8, 9, Fig. 1, hinged to the side walls 4, 5 of a collapsible tray, Fig. 2 (not shown), are fixed together to form the end walls, flaps 10, 11, 12 and 13, hinged to these panels, lying in face-to face relationship with the base and abutting in pairs when the tray is erected to keep it erect In the embodiment tabs 18-21 on the panels 6-9 are stapled to the corresponding opposite panels in forming the end walls. The flaps 10-13 may be completely separated from the base panels 2, 3 by slots 16, 17. The tray may be made of cardboard and may include a separate lid or one hinged to the upper end of one of the walls of the tray. The erected tray may be collapsed by folding up the flaps 10-13 against their respective panels 6-9 and bending the box along a score line provided centrally down the joint between the panels 6, 7 and 8, 9 and along the base parallel to the side walls 4, 5.
