The oven 10 of a domestic cooker is heated by forced convection, the air drawn through apertures 13 at both sides of the bottom of the rear wall 12 by an electric fan 16, being returned to the oven interior via ducts 15, 17 and an aperture 18 containing electric heating elements 20. The proximity of the apertures 13 and 18 promotes within the cooking space itself a substantially closed path for a major portion of the air flow.
