Abstract

1,044,521. Cigarette trays; packaging- machines; roller conveyers. K. KORBER. Nov. 2, 1962 [Nov. 10, 1961; April 10, 1962], No. 40304/61. Headings B8A, B8C and B8D. A holder 6 for rod-like articles, e.g. cigarettes, is conveyed by a vertically movable platform 1 which has adjustable magnets 9, 10 engaging magnetizable parts 12, 13 respectively on the holder in order to steady it. The platform 1 is lowered step-by-step as successive rows of cigarettes are fed into the holder 6, which may be either a tray or a support frame for a tray. The magnets 9, 10 may be on the holder, and the parts 12, 13 on the conveyer. Either the parts 12, 13 or the magnets 9, 10 may lie on side, bottom, or rear surfaces of the holders, Figs. 1-9 accompanying Provisional Specification 13743/62 (not shown). A carrier 802, Fig. 10 (not shown), running on a roller 801 on an overhead rail 800 has a frame which steadies a tray 100 magnetically. Trays 100 may also be moved through 90 degrees over rollers 114, Fig. 11 (not shown), under control of a rotating arm 112 carrying electromagnets 110. Trays having members 9, 10 and 12, 13 in their side walls may form a train carried on conveyer.
