Abstract
1,044,377. Transformers. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. April 3, 1963 [April 6, 1962], No. 13411/62. Heading H1T. The sub-divided core 10 (Fig. 1) of a transformer is joined up on reassembly by means of sets of laminated bridging members 27, 28 (Fig. 3) which can be inserted without requiring clearance space above or below the core parts 15a, 16a which they interconnect. The smaller bridging member 28 can be inserted in the position shown in chain lines with its laminations interleaved (by flexing them if necessary) with the yoke laminations and then slid into place. The larger bridging member 27 is inserted sideways by flexing its laminations. Alternatively the gap may be filled by inserting alternately a lamination of the smaller bridging member followed by a lamination of the larger members and so on. The laminations of the larger bridging member, or both, may be rectangular or may have stepped edges, the core gaps being shaped to correspond. More than two bridging members per gap may be used.
