Abstract

1,042,728. Packages. DIAMOND NATIONAL CORPORATION. Nov. 25, 1963 [May 24, 1963], No. 46459/63. Headings B8C and B8P. [Also in Division B5] A moulded tray 32, Fig. 1 (not shown), for food products has its side and end walls 24, 25 formed so as each to include substantially planar segments 38, 40 and so that the angle between the bottom 22 of the tray and the walls is less at the arcuate corners 36 than at the medial portions of the walls; which arrangement serves both to strengthen the tray and to facilitate nesting. The peripheral margin of the walls 24, 25, which may comprise a flange 18, is formed slightly convex so as to give an appearance that the trays, when nested, are rectangular. A heat-shrinkable transparent film may be secured over the top of the tray and then be subjected to heat so as to form a package. The tray is moulded from pulp slurry (see Division B5) and the film is of polyethylene.
