Abstract

1,042,626. Compartmented containers; container closures. A. MANARESI. July 7, 1964, No. 27911/64. Headings B8D and B8T. A beverage is stored in separated powder and liquid form, the powder being contained in a capsule 1, Fig. 2 (not shown), of a hollower stopper T and the liquid in a bottle B, Fig. 1 (not shown), to which the stopper is fitted. The bottom of the capsule is removable by means of a cylindrical hollow metal cutter 2 slidable within the capsule and having an out-turned flange 22 at its upper end spaced from a flange 12 on the capsule by means of a removable ring 3. A pulltab and weakened areas are provided on the ring, Fig. 3 (not shown). The stopper is initially protected by a capsule C which is torn off before the tab on the ring can be pulled, Figs. 5-6 (not shown). The stopper may be of synthetic resin, e.g. polyethylene or polyvinyl.
