Abstract

1,039,310. Gear-finishing. CARL HURTH MASCHINENUND ZAHNRADFABRIK. April 22, 1964 [July 20, 1963], No. 16630/64. Addition to 1,004,367. Headings B3B, B3K and B3T. [Also in Division F2] A gear finishing machine as claimed in the parent Specification in which a work., or cutter-, slide is fed against a stop, has means for withdrawing the slide when the pressure between the work and tool begins to fall, thus denoting the completion of the machining operation. A plunge-shaving machine similar to that described in the above-mentioned Specification is modified by the pressure-responsive means 403 being incorporated in the mounting of the centre 268a. The means 403 may be urged upwardly against the bearing block 401 by springs, screws or fluid-pressure means. A switch 421 is closed when the pressure has reached a maximum between the work and tool. The signal generator 409 operates when the pressure has dropped to a predetermined level to cause the feed motor to be reversed immediately or after a time delay. In modifications, the pressure-responsive means is located below the work-table or is associated with the tool-shaft. The feed may be by fluidpressure means. The block 401 and the pressureresponsive means may be adjustable about the axis of the centre 268a.
