Abstract

In a longwall, mineral-mining installation a machine having a rotary cutting head is mounted on top of for hauling to and fro along a conveyer by an endless chain driven in one direction only. The chain is located above the conveyer and is connected to the machine by a pin sliding in a guide disposed on the machine transverse to the direction of movement of the machine. The drive means of the chain is mounted on a frame bridging the troughing of the conveyer along which the frame can be moved, preferably by jacks, when adjustment of the tension of the chain is required.
