Abstract

1,038,865. Spray-producers. MACHINES ELECTROSTATIQUES S.A. June 4,1963 [June 4,1962], No. 21494/62. Heading B2F. An electrostatic spray device comprises a hollow pipe 2 to which liquid is fed under pressure, a nozzle opening surrounding one end of the pipe through which opening a gaseous fluid is discharged generally axially of the pipe or in a convergent stream, and a pin 4 arranged within the pipe 2 and provided with a head 4a designed to cause the liquid to be discharged into the airstream at a substantial angle with respect to the longitudinal axis of the pipe 2. The pipe 2 or the pin 4, or both, are made of electrically conductive or high resistance material and are connected to a source of high potential through a cable 105 so that the liquid is electrostatically charged as it is discharged from the device. A trigger 106 operates a valve 107 controlling the flow of liquid. In the embodiment of Fig. 3, (not shown) the head 4alpha is replaced by a head of truncated cone shape and in that of Fig. 4 (not shown) the air flow is modified by a core surrounding one end of the central pin.
