Abstract

1,038,804. Knitting-machines. HOBOURN AERO COMPONENTS Ltd. Feb. 11, 1965 [Feb. 28, 1964], No. 8448/64. Heading D1C. A temperature differential is maintained between the needle bar 14, 15, tongue bar 22, 23, sinker bar 28 and thread guide bars 33 by heaters located in all but the thread guide bars 33 and controlled by a wheatstone bridge circuit. Two arms of the bridge are formed by resistance thermometer wires 48, 45 located in the thread guide bar 33 and any one of the other three bars respectively. The temperature difference is preset by the variable resistance 54 so that the bridge is balanced at that temperature difference. A differential amplifier 57 measures the out of balance current and operates the heater switches to raise the temperature of the heated beds. In the event of an excess temperature differential a safety differential amplifier 56 operates an alarm system and stops the machine.
