Abstract

1,038,647. Charging metallurgical converters. VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISENUND STAHLWERKE A.G. Feb. 11, 1965 [Feb. 13, 1964], No. 6016/65. Heading F4B. A machine for charging a converter 3 with scrap comprises a oar 1 movable on rails 2 at right angles to the tilting plane of the converter and a long bar 6 and a short bar 7 pivoted to the car at 5, 4 respectively and to a support platform 8 for the charging box 10, the whole linkage forming an articulated quadrangle operated by a hydraulic ram pivoted at 11 to the long bar 6, to effect the loading operation. Movement of the linkage causes the charging bore to perform a combined forward and tilting movement to the dumping position shown in dot-dash lines. Two charging boxes 10 are mounted on the car.
