Abstract

1,036,810. Making block packages. HOLSTEIN & KAPPERT MASCHINENFABRIK PHONIX G.m.b.H. Dec. 21, 1964 [Dec. 27, 1963], No. 51776/64. Heading B8C. A block-shaped package (Fig. 5, not shown) is made by reshaping a tetrahedral package 3 (Fig. 1) using external pressure. In the embodiment described, a tube 1 of coated paper or synthetic plastics foil is supplied with liquid from a tube 11. It is then sealed transversely by members 2a, 2b to form a package which is not completely filled. The volume of the package is controlled by the adjustable angle between the sloping faces of support jaws 9 and the width of the inner face of the jaws 2a, 2b. The jaws are vertically adjustable for different sized packages and jaws 2a, 2b are interchangeable with ones of different width. The packages are separated by blades 4, and reshaped by a plurality of shaping bodies. The triangles (upstanding in Fig. 5, not shown) formed in this re-shaping may be welded to the top and bottom of the package, or may be left upstanding to assist in removing the package from an outer carton.
