Abstract

1,036,459. Low-pressure hose. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. June 26, 1964 [June 27, 1963], No. 26430/64. Headings F2G and F2P. A low-pressure hose 1 allows bending and longitudinal compression or extension without substantial reduction of its internal diameter and has an internally open groove 6 adjacent each end to receive a resilient annular sealing member 11 to be compressed between the hosetube and a complementary component 9 inserted into it through the sealing member. The hose tube is made of polypropylene and has concertina type convolutions 5 along its length. Alternatively polyamides or polyvinyl chloride may be the material. Two tapered recesses 6 and 8 provided with 0-rings 11 and 12 are located in cylindrical portions 3, 4 at either end of the hose. The component 9 may be any rigid fitment such as the outlet of an automobile radiator. The hose has constant wall thickness. The convolutions are triangular in axial cross-section spaced at a pitch equal to the length of the base. A reduced diameter portion 10 between the cylindrical end and the convoluted portion serves as a stop.
