Abstract

1,036,362. Latches; clips. C. S. WITHING- TON and G. R. COOPER. Feb. 16, 1965 [Feb. 21, 1964], No. 7256/64. Headings E2A and E2B. A clip comprises two opposed gripping members 10, a housing 13 and a block 14 of rubber or the like therein and engaged by at least one of the gripping members which is movable relative to the housing and is pressed by its engagement with the block to a gripping position relative to the other member, relative movement of the members apart and away from the gripping position being resisted by the resilience of the block. As shown in Fig. 1, both gripping members 10 engage the block 14 by means of a limb 10b on each member which passes through a respective slot 11 on the housing 13. The clip may be used as part of a push-pull door catch, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) on which the gripping members are engageable with a rod-like striker. In another arrangement Fig. 6 (not shown) for securing sheets of paper together, a pair of gripping members is provided with aligned slots in which a housing enclosing a rubber block is enclosed, the housing having slots in its lower wall for projections which extend from the slots into engagement with the block. End portions of the gripping members act as levers for opening gripping jaws of the members against the resistance of the block. In a further arrangement Fig. 8 for attaching paper sheets 51 to a board 50, a housing for a rubber block 37a is clipped to the board 50 by gripping members,36 and 38, the member 38 including a portion 43 extending through a slot in the housing and bearing on the block 37a. A further gripping member 39 for the sheets 51 includes a portion 48 extending through a slot 47, and a lever portion 49.
